The Dahlonega Lions Club is always interested in helping those in need with eye surgery,eye exams, glasses or hearing aids. Call one of our officers for more information.
EYE EXAMS AND GLASSES:
January 2001 thru June 2008: 685
Lion year 2008-2009: 42
Lion year 2009 -2010: 20
USED GLASSES, HEARING AIDS AND CELL PHONES:
Dahlonega Lions you may bring any used glasses,hearing aids, or phones you have to any Club meeting for turn in.
In Lion year 2007-2008, the Club contributed 1656 recycle items (used glasses, Cell phones, hearing aids)to the Ga. Lions Lighthouse. For Lion year 2008-2009, 1601 items were contributed. A total of 3257 items for the two year period. For Lion year 2009-2010, 797 items have been contributed as of November 11, 2009.
VISION SCREENING:
Twenty individuals were screened on 30 September at the Free Health Clinic of The Community Helping Place. There were 19 risk failure and 13 acuity failures. Of the 13, 11 were refered to the Club and 2 to the Lighthouse.
A date has not been set for the next screening. Date is going to depend on date of Vision clinic.
Club members be proud of the fact that your are involved in a process that restores and/or improves vision of those who might otherwise loose it.
PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY:
Lions don't forget to bring peanut butter and jelly or other food items to each club meeting. This items are collected and provided to the Food Pantry of the Community Helping Place. Do your part to insure no one goes to bed hungry.
There are a lot of needs in our county. Food donations is only one of many ways that help can be provided.
